Job Description

General Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled PLC Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with Allen Bradley PLC systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with both input and output devices, including valves, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), motors, servo drives, and various sensors. Experience in working with welding lines is essential. This role requires a deep understanding of control systems, troubleshooting, and optimizing PLC programs to ensure seamless integration and operation of automated systems.

PLC Programming and Configuration:

  • Develop, configure, and optimize Allen Bradley PLC programs for various automation applications, ensuring efficient and reliable operation.
  • Modify existing PLC programs as needed to accommodate changes in production requirements or to enhance system performance.

System Integration:

  • Integrate PLC systems with various output devices such as valves, VFDs, motors, and servo drives, ensuring smooth and precise control.
  • Interface PLCs with input devices, including different types of sensors, to capture and process data for system control and monitoring.

Welding Line Automation:

  • Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC systems specifically for welding lines, ensuring synchronization and coordination of welding processes.
  • Work closely with the production team to implement and refine control strategies that enhance welding line efficiency and product quality.

Troubleshooting and Maintenance:

  • Diagnose and resolve issues within PLC-controlled systems, utilizing diagnostic tools and methods to identify and correct faults.
  • Perform regular maintenance and updates to PLC systems to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.

Control System Design:

  • Design and implement control systems that meet the specific requirements of each project, taking into consideration factors such as safety, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and departments to ensure that control systems are fully integrated with other aspects of the production process.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed documentation of PLC programs, configurations, and changes for future reference and compliance.
  • Generate reports on system performance, highlighting any issues and providing recommendations for improvements.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure all PLC systems comply with relevant safety standards and industry regulations.
  • Implement safety features within the PLC programs to protect equipment and personnel.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience working with Allen Bradley PLC systems, with a focus on automation and control.
  • Extensive experience with output devices like valves, VFDs, motors, and servo drives, as well as input devices such as various sensors. Basic understanding of Electrical panel wiring.
  • Proven experience working on PLC systems in welding lines.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in programming and troubleshooting Allen Bradley PLC systems, including RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, and other related software.
  • Strong understanding of automation and control principles, including PID control, motor control, and sensor integration.
  • Experience with HMI (Human-Machine Interface) design and integration is a plus.

Problem-Solving:

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex control system issues.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess system performance and implement improvements.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, and engineering.
  • Ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Education:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications in Allen Bradley PLC systems or automation technology are a plus.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methods.
